Promoting the use of technologies like anaerobic digestion will help meet the methane emissions goals set by the Biden Administration (2030 Greenhouse Gas Pollution Reduction Targets).

Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a naturally occurring process in which different types of bacteria work together in stages to ferment organic matter in an oxygen-free environment. A broad range of organic materials can be used in anaerobic digestion including manure, municipal waste, food/oil/grease, crop silage, and sewage. The process creates two valuable by-products; biogas and effluent, also called digestate- the concentrated material that remains after digestion.
